Mentoring, Classes & Retreats

Come away to a quiet place in Wimberley, Texas for a three hour time to practice hearing our Creator God as you paint. This class is all about the process of spending time creating with God being your guide, not the finished product. Believing deep in our souls that God created us in His image so therefore we are created to create is my core value for this class. Using art as our place of taking risks in this ever-growing relationship, I believe you will experience God’s love through healing, clarity, focus, peace, joy and all that He wants to release uniquely to our hearts.

The three hours will include at least one hour of quiet solitude time painting in the middle of our time together. We will have a short teaching, sharing and prayer time to begin and then a time to process together with more prayer to conclude our session.

My prayer is you will experience an awakening and clarity of what God’s unique voice sounds like to you. In this creative process, you will emerge with more focus into your daily life in a deeper relationship with God. My prayer is you will feel safe and experience a fresh awakening of God’s voice in your life in ways beyond the paint brush!

All painting supplies will be provided. Our medium will be acrylic on canvas. Hot and cold drinks and light snacks will be provided.

Wear comfortable clothing that can receive paint splatters without concern.

The class size is limited to eight. Once you complete registration, more detailed information will be provided— arrival times, gate code , etc.

Who is your teacher/facilitator? Sara Thurman, artist. Wimberley is my beloved home and birthplace of becoming an artist four years ago. Never believing I was an artist for the first 56 years of my life, until I heard the whisper of God, “You are an artist for me!” in October 2014 while worshipping and painting with a small group of women. I believed Him and started my journey of spending more time with Him painting and journaling and praying and worshipping and growing my artistic skill level. My first angel painting sold in November 2016. Since then I have painted over 900 paintings. I am an intercessor and encourager. My husband and I started our business, Acts 1:8 Blessings, in 2017 with the purpose of “creating to bring heaven to the ends of the earth.” We are able help bring the love of Jesus to people in China, Russia, Mongolia, Central Asia and several countries in Africa as well as in our own community, state and country. We support missions and people groups in these countries as well as travel overseas ourselves. Small Beginnings, A Journey to the Impossible is my book to be released in March 2019 about becoming an artist and how God is using my artwork as a release of His love.

I am humbled and blessed to be providing this time and space and place for you to practice hearing God in the creative process, too! I hear God more clearly every day because of my journey as an artist and believe God has asked me to release His love and light through what He is teaching me to others.

Sara Thurman has been practicing her calling of becoming an artist for God since she heard His clear call in October 2014. She has painted and sold over 750 paintings since that call. Sara had never considered herself an artist, in fact had never taken an art class before God told her who she was. She is releasing her first book, Small Beginnings: A Journey to the Impossible in summer 2019. It is her story full of testimonies of how her art speaks about the love of Jesus in her own unique journey of becoming an artist. She is a retired teacher and administrator from Texas public schools. She has a heart of encouragement and intercession to release the hope and light and love of Jesus to others. Sara lives in Wimberley, Texas with Wayman, her husband. Two sons and daughter-in-loves call her Mom and one little granddaughter calls her Grandma. She and Wayman started an art ministry called Acts 1:8 Blessings in early 2017. They release a portion of their profits to help make the name of Jesus famous all over the world to help missionaries and others in need in their own community.
