WRITING WEEKEND RETREAT - JANUARY 10 - 12, 2020
WRITING WEEKEND RETREAT - JANUARY 10 - 12, 2020
Practicing Hearing the Voice of God in the Writing Process - Weekend Retreat
Come away to a quiet place in Wimberley, Texas for a time to practice hearing our Creator God as you write. This retreat is all about the process of spending time writing with God being your guide, not the finished product. Believing deep in our souls that God created us in His image so therefore we are created to create is our core value for this class. Using writing as our place of taking risks in this ever-growing relationship, I believe you will experience God’s love through prayer, healing, clarity, focus, peace, joy and all that He wants to release uniquely to our hearts.
In this gathering we will include times of quiet solitude, times of instruction, times of processing and reflecting, times of sharing. Hearing our Creator will be the emphasis in this writing retreat.
Our prayer is you will experience an awakening and clarity of what God’s unique voice sounds like to you. As you practice and process your writing throughout the weekend, you will emerge with more focus transferring to a deeper relationship with God. We believe God will release a new confidence and courage in your own unique writing style. Our prayer is you will feel safe and experience a fresh awakening of God’s voice in your life in ways beyond the pen and paper!
Co-Facilitated by Sara Thurman - Humbled and blessed to be providing this time and space and place for you to practice hearing God in the writing process, too! I hear God more clearly every day because of my journey as an author and believe God has asked me to release His love and light through what He is teaching me to you. May the ripple effect of God’s love and unique creativity flow to and through you and then on to others!
Co-Facilitated by Peggy Tidwell - Excited and blessed to release the expertise of creative writing to each of you as participants. Jesus is in the center of my style of sharing and releasing all that God has shown me about the writing process. I love to host gatherings in my Texas Hill Country home where friendships are nourished through southern hospitality, comfort food, and conversation. I am passionate about discovering God’s treasures woven into nature, Scripture, and creative arts. As a published writer, I craft stories of redemption with Texas settings, regional cuisines and dogs. I can’t wait to meet you and bless you with renewed confidence and courage as a writer!

This retreat will take you deeper into practicing hearing God’s voice in the writing process. With Sara’s own experience of writing, she has learned to hear God in a more focused and beautiful way while writing her published book about her journey of becoming an artist—Small Beginnings: A Journey to the Impossible. Sara will be releasing what God has given her in the past few years of becoming a writer to each attendee. Peggy will be releasing a renewed confidence in writing to each attendee with her gifted teaching style. Affirming our identity as daughters of God, will allow us to move deeper into renewing our thoughts to hear God more in all areas of our lives.
This retreat will help with affirming your ability to hear God’s Song of Love over your life. This retreat will include teaching times, reflection times, writing times, quiet times all interlaced with the joy of God’s presence.
The schedule will be full of opportunities to create yet restful times. The retreat center is located on eight acres that has walking trails and quiet places. This weekend will bless your soul and spirit to increase your ability to hear God’s direction in your life. Through writing and working on your own writing style, God will speak to you in ways that will carry forth into your daily walk with God. No writing experience is required. We will be focusing on the process of crafting our writing, not the finished product. We believe that you will receive more focus and clarity in your own writing journey by the end of our weekend together.
Sara Thurman has been practicing her calling of becoming an artist for God since she heard His clear call in October 2014. She has painted and sold over 750 paintings since that call. Sara had never considered herself an artist, in fact had never taken an art class before God told her who she was. She released her first book, Small Beginnings: A Journey to the Impossible in summer 2019. It is her story full of testimonies of how her art speaks about the love of Jesus in her own unique journey of becoming an artist. She is a retired teacher and administrator from Texas public schools. She has a heart of encouragement and intercession to release the hope and light and love of Jesus to others. Sara lives in Wimberley, Texas with Wayman, her husband. Two sons and daughter-in-loves call her Mom and one little granddaughter calls her Grandma. She and Wayman started an art ministry called Acts 1:8 Blessings in early 2017. They release a portion of their profits to help make the name of Jesus famous all over the world to help missionaries and others in need in their own community.
